June, 25, 2013: Colloquium with Dr. Steffen Bukold and Volker Klosowski (Vorstand Technik of TÜV Rheinland AG) about FRACKING. Some 140 attended this colloquium that gave from first hand neutral information about fracking. Mr. Klosowsi presented the technology of fracking showing chances and risks. He demonstrated that under European standards risks published in the US would not exist. Dr. Bukold gave an outline about exploration in the USA and in Europe, made an economic and financial analysis, gave examples of landscapes with fracking in the US, discussed the political and public discussion held in Europe and in the US. The colloquium showed that fracking could be a chance for the US to solve for some limited time its hunger for energy but that the economic and environmental costs are immense. For Europe fracking would have little chances to succeed due to small volumes of gas, high costs and negative results prospecting for gas in Poland. The presentation of Dr. Bukold can be downloaded from this page below.
